Chemical Transport Requirements
The transportation of various chemicals by road is strictly regulated, as violations of temperature conditions or other rules can lead to the spoilage of an entire batch of products. This is especially critical for pharmaceuticals. Clear requirements apply to all parties involved in the cargo transportation process.
Documentation
Properly prepared documentation is a crucial stage of the preparatory work. Without the appropriate paperwork, the transportation of chemical substances would simply be illegal.
What is included in the document package
- The CMR consignment note (or goods transport waybill). It contains a list of all transported items, cargo specifications, and details of the sender and recipient.
- The waybill. This document records the technical condition of the vehicle, outlines the planned route, and includes driver details (including medical examination results and work authorization).
- Cooperation agreement. The contract is signed with the client and includes all agreed-upon terms of transportation.
In addition, chemical cargo must be accompanied by relevant quality certificates and additional documentation (in the case of pharmaceuticals).

Driver Qualifications
As mentioned earlier, the driver must have documents confirming their right to operate a commercial vehicle and, crucially, to transport chemical cargo. He must possess the necessary qualifications: the ability to operate the equipment installed in the refrigerated unit, monitor temperature readings, and adjust them if needed. An important point: all drivers are briefed on emergency procedures.
Vehicle Standards
The vehicles intended for transporting chemical cargo must have an interior lining that allows for easy disinfection. The equipment maintaining the temperature regime is checked for proper functioning before the vehicle departs. We use reliable rolling stock: VOLVO FH and SITRAK CH7-MAX trucks, along with refrigerated semi-trailers.
Packaging & Labeling
Special attention is given to the labeling and packaging of chemicals.
- Depending on the type of cargo, packaging may include cardboard boxes or wooden crates, sealed containers, thermal boxes, and may be equipped with special securing devices to prevent damage.
- The packaging must be intact and clean—if damaged, the cargo cannot be loaded into the van.
- Different types of chemical cargo are delivered separately: for example, it is prohibited to transport pharmaceuticals with any other goods. Household chemicals cannot be shipped alongside cosmetic products.
Labeling is mandatory for certain types of products—such as perfumes or pharmaceuticals. Medical liquids or flammable compounds are labeled separately.
